Caribbean Queen!

Here she is Pirate Mary Read.... she dressed as a man in order to pirate alongside men as their equal.

Read more about her here:  Pirate Mary Read

And, yet another view to get the whole boot thing... I used the front door since the green helped her stand out!

A quote from Mary Read, on being hung,

"As to hanging, it is no great hardship. For were if not for that, every cowardly fellow would turn pirate and so unfit the sea, that men of courage must starve."

This is the kind of girl my daughter emulates... No freakin' Princesses for her!  LOL  Is it any wonder she kicks her brothers' butts???

Kinda brings a tear to my eye.... <sniff>

be well,
Dawn

I love pirate stories
we need girl pirates
we have enough princesses!
I love the story about Ann Bonny's lover, who begged for a kiss as he was about to be hung & she told him"If you had fought like a man , you needn't have died like a dog"

Reminds me of me as a kid. I once did a 1 woman act of Joan of Arc. Loved the story on Mary Read. Pumpkin is adorable in her pirate outfit. (Hugs) Indigo

After Mary and Ann had kicked ass...including killing a few of their own crew to punish them for not fighting hard enough...I like what Ann told her pirate captain lover before he was hanged...something like: "Well if you had fought like a man, you wouldn't now hang like a dog" something like that.
Pumpkin is the Pirate Princess!

We have a book on Mary Read, and I have to admit, I'm the one more interested than my kid.  I'm fascinated, actually!  :)
