Cats in the Cradle (or Caturday!)

Yes, it's Caturday!  So, I will give you a few cat pictures to enjoy from I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER? !

I did not make it to the pool.

Shortly after I entered that entry last night, Pumpkin began to cry.  She couldn't stop crying - she was sad, but she didn't know why, and the more she tried to figure it out the more upset she got.

I think it is the adolescent hormones starting up.  Any moms out there with older daughters.... could it be this early?  10 1/2?

I got my period at 11 1/2, so I guess so, and I do remember crying and not knowing why, but I thought I was a bit older.  <sigh>

Well, the poor baby just wanted to be near me and watch some mindless tv, so we put on a show about the Anheuser Busch Brewery in St. Louis, that showed you all the steps in beer brewing.  It was interesting but mindless, because she settled down.

The show ended at midnight and she tried to fall asleep while sitting in the chair with me... after about 45 minutes, she finally did.

By the time I cleaned up for the night, it was 1 am when I got in bed.  And, as usual it took me over an hour to fall asleep.

Morning came too early, for Pumpkin and I.  She didn't want to jump up and go to the pool, she just wanted to lounge around the house for a while.

Hubby and Fuzzy went to the pool.  Hammer stayed home to vegetate, too.  I went back to sleep.

Pumpkin and I went bowling just the two of us.  She bowled two games and we both ate some french fries.  Her emotions are still really near the surface.

We came home and showered and washed our hair, and then my mom took Pumpkin to get her nails done.  They are out now.  Hammer took a shower, and is reading in his room.  Hubby and Fuzzy are not back from the pool yet.

Hubby is annoyed.  Of course, he slept on and off during the beer show, and then straight through the night, and hasn't been sick with a summer cold.  Feh to him.

I am enjoying the few minutes of quiet I have.  :-)  It never lasts long in this house!  LOL

be well,
Dawn

Hello.  For Pumpkin, I'd say it's her age.  Tis the time and season.  Hang on, the ride can be bumpy!  I absolutely love your cat pictures.  I have three cats of my own -- and three dogs!!  Hope you're feeling better.  Linda (Friday's Child)

Poor little Pumpkin..  I think my daughter was a little older..11 or 12?!  It's such an awkward age already..  Just have her repeat over and over again:  It's so wonderful to be a girl!  Yeah..right, huh?  Julie

Pumpkin may indeed be getting a surge of hormones.  I don't envy you ladies AT ALL!!  You'll handle it perfectly.  You are SUPER MOM!!

Sorry you're daughter is upset, but I have noticed that girls start that stuff earlier all the time. So she may be starting the emotional end of it all. Glad you all were able to just chill. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Take care, Chrissie

My girl is only 8, sorry, no advice there. My sister's daughter is 12 and she said she is growing hair already.... I thought that was early.
Good luck with her, I hope today is better.

with my girls, that was about when it started...the drama , the emotions They actually get better once their periods truly begin. IT's like they have  chronic PMS for about 2 years.Bless her heart...she is lucky to have a mama like you to snuggle up with.

It could definitely be Pumpkin's hormones.  My girls were 12 but most of their friends had started long before that.  Megan was such a sunny child.  She was always happy.  Then...boom...overnight doors were slamming, she was screaming and crying, and I knew it was that time.  Sure enough it was.  Your little girl is growing up.  Big hugs to you, Chris

This is a hard time in her life and yours. It does sound like hormones. Caitlin was going through that about that age. It does get better!

Many hugs and prayers,
Gretchen
