Anyone who does a lot of reading know about "Mount TBR": That's the pile of books you have just waiting To Be Read -- the books you want to get to, but haven't yet. This brings us to this week's Weekend Assignment:
Weekend Assignment #184: What books do you want to read - but haven't yet? These could be new books, classic books you've just not gotten around to, books you've bought but haven't cracked the spines of, or a book you want to get but for some reason haven't. The salient characteristic is that you want to read it, but just haven't yet.
This last pile of books in the bedroom are basically just two authors, Jim Butcher and Jeff Shaara. Sorry it is fuzzy... not sure why. I noticed there is also a Steve Berry and a John Sauls on the pile, too.
Extra credit: Do you usually prefer the book or the movie?
I prefer the book 99.9% of times. There have been a few times that movie has helped me to appreciate certain aspects of a book more, like in the case of Harry Potter. Seeing the Quidditch game come to life on the big screen helped me understand it much better.
Also, I agree with John, my enjoyment of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was totally enhanced by the movie. Tolkein is obscure, the movie brought it to life and I was able to go back and read the books because I wanted to, not because I had to for college! LOL
FYI - Here are the rest of our 'book nooks'!
The playroom which has mostly homeschooling, or non-fiction, lots of stuff all the kids can use for reports and what not.
This next area are the bins on my china cabinet with all the current homeschooling books.
This is Pumpkin's book case, of books for pleasure reading. It doesn't include a huge bin next to her bed with her current 'faves'.
And, here are Hammer and Fuzzy's books. Not as neat as their sister's, it is hard with twice as many though, to be fair. The boys have a good amount of non-fiction in their room, too. They each enjoy reading educational things for fun, as well as fiction.
So, there ya have it! Dawn's Book Bonanza! We always tell friends to check with us if their kids need books on a particular subject, usually we have it! LOL
be well,
Dawn

Oh Yeah, that's alot of books. It's just great that your kids have the same love of reading as you. And, I think......You have more books than me.
Smiles, Leigh
This made me smile. I knew you were a fellow book hound and I figured that you must have those same piles that make my home complete, too. Very cool. --Cin
Wow and I thought we had a lot of books over here :) Great entry!

You have it worse than I do! Maybe because I'm broke and CAN'T buy books. But man, I wear the library out.

now i know where to go when i can't find what i want in the library :)~ although, i do have a fair amount of books at my house, too ... i am too tired to take pictures, though. on my list is hillary clinton's biography, an old book called "law & order," flynn's up&coming "protect & defend," and a biography of abraham lincoln, among others. i keep all my potters for re-reading, john case novels for travel, and am finishing "angels & demons." this is a great assignment - thanks for bringing it to our attention! =)
There may be a Pear Dude book in the semi-near future. Blog buddy Rachel (Mosie's daughter) is working on it with me. I'll let you know....

Looks like you are a real booknik and teaching the kids to be that way, too. The best thing I thought I ever did was take my kids to the library all the time and let them check out books along with mine. Now I buy a lot of books in the thrift stores. I found an Anne Lamott book yesterday I have not read called "Blue Shoe." I am reading one I just bought, a historical novel by Rose Tremain, first time I have read any of hers, but I like it. It is called "Music and Silencce" Have you heard of her. I also picked up one called Thinking in Pictures by Temple Grandin. I think she is quite a well known autistic writer. I tend to buy when I get the chance because they are so cheap. Gerry http://journals.aol.com/gehi6/daughters-of-the-shadow-men/
OMGosh... it's "book week." I stayed home from work Wednesday & one of the things I did was go down into the basement & sort my books. Not all of them because I ran out of time & room. It's a work in progress and a mess - something I would have journaled about if I had gotten around to sharing over the weekend, as was my intent but, as is such, didn't happen. Won't say too much here in case I do get around to journaling, but just thought it was "funny" that I was in book mode myself and could have/would have played along IF I had gotten my act together sooner...
