Thankful Thursday and Wednesday Word of the Week!

Aye yi yi yi!!!  Still lots to pack, today is after school bowling league, and my hands are sore, swollen, and hurting like HADES!  ACK!

Alrighty then... that's enough about that!  I am so sorry that I didn't get here yesterday!

Wednesday Word (s) of the week!

I love Latin, and so many Latin words are used direct into English, so I decided to give you a few of them today, to make up for my absence.

Caveat:  let him/her beware; warning.  As in the phrase 'Caveat emptor', 'Let the buyer beware.'

In situ:  means on the site, used quite often in medical field, especially in biopsy.

Quid pro quo:  something for something; a trade-off

Vox populi:  voice of the people.  one half of the expression, 'Vox populi, vox Dei' which is 'The voice of the people is the voice of God';  Often further shortened to 'vox pop'.

Tempus fugit:  time flies

And, of course...

Carpe diem:  seize the day

... but you all know that one already!  LOL ;-)

Now, without further ado, my thankfuls!

1.     Coffee.  Yup.  'Nuff said.

2.     Hubby.  He seems to have successfully removed his head from his butt and improved his mood and therefore 'behavior' this week.  Last week he was a bear.  Ack.

3.     The Kids.  What a motley crew!  LOL  They are always my heart, my reason to live.

4.     My parents.  My rocks that I lean on.

5.     Books.  I have read some great ones lately!  Including, Jim Butcher's 'Small Favor'.  Loved it!

I hope that everyone is having a good Thursday!

be well,
Dawn

Love the list.  I took at least a year of Latin in high school.  It is such a cool language and I rocked on my SATs!

Oh I love the LOL cat...I should tell people that and maybe I will convince myself that the 10 pounds I've added in the last year is just the camera, ha ha.  I love the word lists too.  Great way to improve my vocabulary.  Hope your hands feel better!!!  De ;)

As usual I'm LOL, VERY loud, at the kitties, and love seeing more latin in these Journals!!  I was going to call mine "Sapere Aude" (dare to think in latin) but it sounded to much like "Supper's Old" lol so...thanks for the latin refresher course!  And the laughing fit with the cats!  XOXO CATHY

Hi,

Just been catching up on your last week. Having Mike at home with me meant I haven't had much time to read Journals.

I can see why you'll be glad to have the kitchen replaced! What were we thinking of back in those days. My early 80's kitchen, which we recently replaced was quite scary too. With brass knobs and long twirly brass decorations! eeek!!! Clearing everything out in preperation is a nightmare but it was a good opportunity to throw away a load of stuff that hadn't seen light of day for years. There were even some things we didn't remember ever having!!

Hope it all goes well and that you have no more leaks in your basement (or anywhere else LOL!!)

Have a good weekend,

Linda. xx

Aww, your poor little hands aching from all the packing - what a huge job!!  Surprisingly I knew the latin words...where did that come from!! LOL  Enjoy your weekend, hopefully you won't be working all the time.

My daughter took Latin for 2 years in high school. She actually did better in Latin than she did in English. Her grandfather even found her a Dr. Suess book that was written completely in Latin. Sorry to hear about your hands hon, this rain is playing havoc with mine as well. At the very least I can feel them again. (Hugs) Indigo

hmmm, I guess I nknow more latin than I thought.  Being a nurse I've exposed to it ALOT.  It helps with to have that base to understand Spanish and Italian also.
LOVE you Wednesday Words : )

hugs,  Bethe
