Summertime

I survived the sleepover, but the whole event didn't go exactly the way Pumpkin hoped it would.

Her BF kind of pulled an attitude after the first movie, and things went downhill from there.  Then, today at arts & crafts in the morning, she wouldn't let Pumpkin be near her or talk to her.

I put an end to it, but then once I brought them to the pool, she did the same thing, totally ditching Pumpkin and ignoring her, refusing to speak to her or acknowledge her, which really hurt her feelings.

I may email the girls mom, I was really NOT happy.

However, Pumpkin eventually had a good time as her other friends began to arrive at the pool!

Here are some pictures from the pool today!

Here is the pool!  The second pic shows the diving boards at the far end, where they L off the main pool area.

The umbrellas are already at the pool, and this is why you come right at opening time!  By the time I left, all that lawn was mostly filled with towels and blankets and people!

And, lastly, me, sitting in my chair, and showing off my new short hair do!  LOL

Very glam huh?  LOL  If you look close you can see my hand holding the cell phone reflected in my sunglasses!  LOL

I ran into quite a few townies that I hadn't seen in awhile, and that was nice.  I also got about 2 hours to chat with my friend Ilene!

Camp update!  The boys are doing great!  Fuzzy has finally started to have some fun and come out of his gloom.  One of the older boys, LT, who is 16, stepped up and really helped him to adjust to some of the challenges of camp.  I am so relieved.  Yay!

Hammer is doing so wonderfully, it chokes my Hubby up when he talks about it!  I wish I could see it!  Remember, this is the boy who never wanted to socialize or deal with others at all after 2 years plus of nightmarish times in public school, due to his Asperger's!  So, it is always a joy and surprise when he blossoms like this before our eyes!

Hubby says he misses me a lot... but I bet he misses the air conditioning more!  LOL  It has been so hot and humid, I really feel for them all!

I cannot sleep without a/c!  In fact, as a kid, I had an a/c every summer and my parents rarely did, before they put in central air conditioning!  I was so cranky when I didn't sleep, they realized that I just had to have it!  Problems with heat happens with Lupus... it all makes sense now!  LOL

I will be back later with the Tuesday Twelve!

be well,

Get this Party Started!!

Pumpkin and her BF have begun the PJ party!

DVD is playing a movie, drink cups filled with water, Ruffles on stand by, and Twizzler Cherry Pull n Peel stuffed in their cheeks.

What more could two almost 10 1/2 year olds want?  LOL

I am munching on Lily Original Movie Theatre popcorn and drinking cherry seltzer.  Yummy!  I think this is the best bagged popcorn I have ever had!  Glad I tried it!

I am in the kitchen, facing the gals in the family room.  I am on call for refills of drinks and snacks, and to change the DVD to the next movie.  Right now they are watching 'John Tucker Must Die' and up next is 'The Last Mimzy'.

Tomorrow, we plan on heading to the pool for the opening at 12 noon, having lunch there, and staying until 3pm.  Then, I will bring BF home.  At least, that is the plan!

News from the boys, was not good, but seems to be getting better.  Fuzzy was still not himself this am, but ate a really big breakfast.  He was much better at lunch, and he and Hammer are both enjoying their classes a lot.  This afternoon was Archery, and I am really looking forward to hearing how it went!

I will be back later, I am sure with another entry and with a meme, I hope!

be well,

The Kid is Hot Tonight

Pumpkin has left me alone to watch a movie across the street with Vi.

That has enabled me to have some alone time, and to catch up on journals!!!

I have spoken to Fuzzy twice so far, and he still sounds sad.  I think tomorrow will be better, he will be so busy.

Last night Fuzzy said that when he gets another hamster, he will name it Thunder, so when it crosses over someday Lightning will find him, and they will play together.  Very sweet!

Fuzzy also said that he was glad that Lightning had the adventure that he had back in November, thanks to Booga.

Here is a link to that entry: My Hamster Dilemma

I feel so bad for Hubby.  92 degrees today during the set up, it is after 9pm, dark and still 85 degrees, and they will have thunderstorms coming through.  Sleeping in tents, no a/c.  I can only hope that the storms cool it down!

I thought a quick meme would be fun:

10 Things in my Pocketbook

1.     Purell.  It's a dirty world.

2.     Tide to go Stain stick.  It's a dirty and messy world.  :-)

3.     Free shampoo and conditioner packets from my hair dresser!  I love freebies!

4.     Chapstick.  Spearmint!  I hate dry lips.

5.     A Smashbox Lipstick.  I can't tell you the color because the words have worn off the bottom!

6.     An emory board.  I hate nail snags.

7.     Hammer's ear plugs.

8.     A pill case that looks like a big capsule, with spare pain meds, just in case.

9.     A half empty pack of tissues.  A must.

10.     Multiple pony tail holders, that I no longer need thanks to my cute short do!

Okay... your turn!  Guys... do 10 things in your car glove box or center console instead!

I also left out the obvious, license, money, cell, and the various receipts we all collect!  LOL

be well,
Dawn

ps... I think I traded mine for a McD's quarter pounder with cheese when I was preggers.  I don't think it counts then... lol

Only the Good Die Young

Fuzzy's hamster was found dead last night.

It was not a good thing to have happen at bedtime, the night before leaving for Boy Scout camp.

Needless to say, it was a long night until about 1:30am.  And, a very early wake up at 8am.  Lightning, aka Tweak, lived a long life for a hamster.  Their lifespan is generally, 1-3 years.  He was about 6 months when we bought him, and it just was 2 1/2 years since his adoption.

A new hamster is in our future, I am sure.

Boy Scout Camp starts today.  The boys and Hubby left at 10 am.  This is the longest I have been away from Hubby and the boys, and they from me.  :(

It is a weird feeling.  I am sure Pumpkin Muffin will keep me busy, though.  She already has two sleepovers planned, and is pushing for #3!  Yikes!  lol

Thankfully, with cell phones, and Hubby's Blackberry, I will have email from them each day, and will probably speak to them, too.

The wonders of the modern world we live in... you can always reach someone!  Sometimes, that is good, sometimes that is bad, but for me this week, very good!

As for the bees... yes, we do seem to be being stalked, don't we?  All the stings were at our town pool, and they are aware, but since the grass area is right next to the pool, and kids and adults with wet bare feet walk on it.  We just have to wear our flip flops and be careful.

I will have camping updates as the week goes one!  The boys are each taking classes Monday thru Friday, as follows:  Citizenship in the Nation, First Aid, Camping, Archery, Wilderness Survival.  And, Hammer has an additional class, Mammal Studies.

be well,
Dawn

"erm....is all that liquor for you or the kids?  hee hee hee...

~Amy

I deliberately left this vague because I was not sure at the time I wrote it!!!  I suppose either would have had the desired effect!  LOL  Either they would have fallen asleep, or I wouldn't have cared anymore!

"Some day when they are grown and not at home you will look back and these sorts of night will STILL be an awful memory lol.  But you will miss those special moments when you were what they wanted most in life.
loving you
karyl"

Yes, I will miss that.  Horribly.  Terribly.  I still can't even fathom that someday, they won't live here!  Waaaaaahhhhh!!!

"Yea, mine was just day 15...sigh.  Getting old sucks.  Bright side of the coin, I love the pics of the kids.  Why doesn't Hammer have a phone?  De ;)

Hammer is my Aspie that is homeschooled, and has never needed one as his school and activities have always been with me.  However, more recently, he has been just starting to widen his social circle, and has borrowed his brothers a couple of times.  Most often he socializes with his brother, so usually, one cell works.  If he asks for one, we will get him one, too, but he really doesn't care to have one yet!

Just some FYI stuff for you all!

Yesterday, we had a nice day!

Kathy was here with my nephew, J, and it was fun!

We headed to the town pool and stayed for about 2 hours!  J loved being in such a big pool and playing with his cousins!  Pumpkin carried him around in the water that was over his head!  She just loves being the 'big girl' babysitter and helper.

It was so chilly with a breeze though, and J started shivering.  We were just starting to pack up, when Kathy stepped on a bee and got stung!!!  OMG... I think we are bee magnets, or something!

Thankfully, it was just one of the clover honeybees again, and although it hurts for a bit, it seems everyone's reactions have been minor, and the same was true for Kathy.  She reacts much more to yellow jackets also.  Phew.

We came back to the house and Pumpkin and our neighbor across the street, Vi, decided to watch J at the park and play with him.  Fuzzy helped too, so Kathy and I ran to get my hair cut.

Yup, I cut 5 inches off the back and got a really cute very layered shag!  Maybe I will post a picture... soon.

Today, the boys are packing.  Tomorrow they leave for Boy Scout camp.  I took Fuzzy out for lunch today, just him and I, for a little alone time before he leaves.  We went to McD's, his choice, and then to Starbucks for dessert.  Fuzzy loves their marble pound cake.  :-)

Tonight, my parents are taking us out to dinner.  They are going to miss the boys sooooo much.

More on Boy Scout camp and what-not, tomorrow.

I Love the Nightlife

Isn't that the sweetest scene, the mom and her three babies???

You know how some animals eat their young?

Well, its nights like tonight that I get that!

Oh, pfft you say... because you know I am a big softy and don't mean it, but seriously.

We watched BB8 all together tonight, saw the first house guest (loser) go home.  Then everyone wanted to watch last night's 'So You Think You Can Dance'.

Watched it we did.  I was just about to send them to bed, when we all saw that the results show was ending, and of course, everyone wanted to see who ended up going home.

So, we watched the results show, too.  And, in doing so, I let the kids stay up until 11:15pm, quite a bit after their 10pmish summer bedtime.  And, Pumpkin wanted to sleep in by the boys on the floor on the mat with a sleeping bag, and we let her.

I am too nice.

11:30pm... down comes Fuzzy - Pumpkin's improvised nite-lite is too bright and is keeping him awake.  I advise adjustments to the light and angle and send him back up with message.

11:35pm... down comes Pumpkin with some odd request.  She is turned back around and told, a) go to sleep right now where she is AS is or b) get in her own bed and go to sleep there.  NOW.  I get a puss, but she retreats.

11:50pm... down comes Fuzzy again.  Has to pee, needs a new bandaid on his foot (details later) then laments to me how it is still too light in the room ,and he can't sleep.  I send him up and tell him if he is still awake at 12:15am to return to me.

12:15am... Fuzzy and Pumpkin come down the stairs.  Fuzzy has had it, wants to sleep with me.   Pumpkin doesn't want to go back up alone, and now Hammer is asleep already, can't she sleep with dad.

Yippee!  I wake Hubby and he and Pumpkin go to playroom day bed to sleep together.  I settle Fuzzy in bed with me.

I come back here to finish entry.

12:23am... Fuzzy comes out here, gets a cup of water, tells me his foot hurts, pets the cat, begs me to come in by him.  I send him off stating '2 minutes'.

Do you understand now???

I knew you would.

More on Fuzzy's toe injury tomorrow.

be well,
Dawn

ps... this will be what I will be resorting to soon if kids don't sleep!  LOL

Thankful Thursday

     Warning:  Female Problems Rant Ahead

The male readers may want to avert their eyes for a minute...

Yesterday, in the middle of Harry Potter, I ran to the bathroom for what was supposed to be a quick pee stop, and found a 'surprise'!

I had to bum a quarter for a tampon off of a sweet older lady, who told me in her tiny spanish-accented voice, 'The older you get the worse it gets, honey, I know.'

Yeah, that about sums it up.

I have never had these surprises before turning 39.  I was like a clock.  Every 26th day, I would wake up and it would arrive.  No kidding.  Just that easy.  No mess or fuss even.  <sigh>

Now, it is day 18, 23, 35, 24, 42, and even upwards of 60 on occasion!!!

It's just not right.

Today was fun!  Beautiful weather, dry and breezy, high in the 70's, until about 3pm, then it hit the low 80's.

I have some good things to share... and I will do so in my Thankful Thursday things:

1.     My dad's CT scan showed his kidney cyst to be just that, still a kidney cyst, just a bit bigger than normal, but totally nothing to be concerned with at all.  Yay.  They will recheck it in 6-9 months!

2.     I got a cell phone upgrade to a cute pink RAZR Motorola cell phone!  Yay!  And, Fuzzy got an upgrade to a teeny phone, and Pumpkin got her own teeny phone, just like Fuzzy's, but different color face plate.  The only one without a phone now is Hammer, but he will just borrow theirs for now.

Aren't the phones cute!

3.     Kathy is coming for a visit tomorrow!  Yay!  It has been probably 6 weeks since we saw each other!  I HATE when that happens!!!  My little nephew J is probably ready for college now!!!  Waaaaa!!!!  Already, maybe it isn't quite that bad...but you get the picture!

I think we will go to the town pool all together... Not sure...

4.     I got to go out for coffee with my friend Cheryl before she moves to AZ with her son on Sunday!  I am going to miss her!  I am very happy and excited for her as she starts off on this new life adventure though!  And, I hope the AZ weather suits her better!

5.     Coffee!!!  This week, I had several days where I got up early and went to bed late (sleepover).  So, I am extra thankful for the caffeine fixes that got me through it all!  :-)

Remember the meme asked about the last visit to Starbucks?  Well, Cheryl and I met at Starbuck's this morning!  lol  Russ' mom, Lisa, joined us, also.  We had a really nice time chatting together.  I think anyone who has tried Starbucks and found the coffee too strong should try a breve latte.  I like it with a vanilla shot, too.  Yummy.

Okie dokie... almost time for Big Brother 8!

be well,
Dawn
