I had a really nice weekend!
Fuzzy and I had a nice lunch together and then went to Barnes & Noble where we both located some book bargains.
Dinner at Cracker Barrel was yummy! Hubby got a deal on the last of a halloween decoration, too. It is a fiber optic black cat and it was originally $45 and he got it for $15! Don't you love a good bargain! I do!
The kids got all their favorite candy treats that only Cracker Barrel has at the store! I got my favorite Vermont Maple Candy... yum!
Thankfully, we were spared with all the wind and rain from losing any power. Lots of people in the NY/NJ area really got clobbered. We had some trees and big branches down locally, but nothing seemed to catch the wires, thank goodness.
Today and tomorrow are going to be in the 60's, which is great for Trick or Treating! After school tomorrow we will go to our town center which is lined with stores on both sides, about 6-7 blocks worth. We will go up one side and down the other side, which will produce several bowls worth of candy!
We also collect money for The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network as Fuzzy has food allergies and asthma. Halloween is a great time to raise awareness.
After we arrive home from gathering candy, I sit with 2 big Halloween bowls. The green bowl, is for Fuzzy and represents 'green is go' which is safe food for him. All the candy with peanuts or nuts or no label to tell for sure is put in the orange bowl. Fuzzy only eats out of the safe bowl and only shares with Pumpkin and Hammer if they ask him and if he is feeling generous. His prerogative, as he is the one with the allergies and the limits.
So, the Jets lost but the Giants won, so we are 50-50 in NFL happiness today! lol
Thanks for all the suggestions for my hips! You will be happy to know that they are feeling better again! Yay!
Oh, just one more thing. Today, Hammer and I made homemade butter! It is pretty easy to do. We use an old baby food jar that I saved just to make it. You just put in heavy cream and shake. And, shake and shake and shake. After it turns to whipped cream it will start to coagulate into butter with the left over liquid whey. Dump the whey, lightly sprinkle with salt, and spread the butter on crackers! A yummy homemade treat!
be well,
Dawn

Can you take a picture of the fiber optic cat to show us? Sounds like you all had a great weekend with a good week coming. I guess it is hard for Fuzzy with the allergies. Not much different that a kid with diabetes at Halloween. I remember when I was a kid in Kindergarten. The Teacher brought in a butter churn. We all got a chance to turn the handle for a while and when everyone was done we had butter. That we spread on cracker. I remember it as very sweet. Thanks for the memories. Regards, Bill.
Awww... sounds so homey... homemade butter! I love it... the only thing is... you need to put it on fresh baked bread... THAT would be heaven.
I'm a barnes & noble addict... I used to go at least once a week but there's not one near my new home/job. Well... near... but not near enough for once a week or on lunch break like I used to.
Have fun with the trick-or-treating!
*hugs*

Wow.. I got a lot of baby jars!! One day I'm going to make my own butter!! :) Gee, I have been hearing a lot about this Cracker Barrel place.. I've never seen it here in California--must be a east coast chain? Julie :)
Dawn, We have a Cracker Barrel near us. I love eating there. Watched the Jets yesterday,,,,Oh well, I guess there is always next week. Smiles, David
Trick or treating over there sounds like a lot of fun. When we lived in TX we use to go to the mall and had fun. Here they don't do anything like that so have to pick your neighborhoods very carefully.
I love Barnes and Noble, just love browsing at times.
mmmm cracker barrel and what a bargain you all got :)
Have a happy and safe Halloween!

I'm glad you had a good weekend! So, did I. I've been eating Halloween candy and I'm not big on candy either. Hmmm...
Hugs!
We ended up at a Cracker Barrel over the weekend, too. Alex even got one of those peg games with the triangular wooden board. He's flexing his little brain right now. Great game.

I could just hours in Barnes and Noble. I also like Cracker Barrel. It's one of the few places we can stop for lunch and be asured of finding a motorhome size parking space. Love the store. Good deal on the black cat. Dawn
AHHH, UMMM-UMM! COAGULATED BUTTER! YUM-MY! Just like Ma used to make! Except the name she gave it sounded better---Hand-Churned! Now if you can just find Little Miss Muffet, you won't even have to dump the whey! Oh, and don't forget those curds!
3's!

That fiber optic cat sounds cute, and the price was right. I do miss the Trick or Treating days but don't miss the candy laying around. I don't eat it unless it's sitting here calling my name. That butter sounds so yummy. What a cool tip. LOL..I really have to try this. HUGS Chris
ahhh cracker barrel i swear i never wanted to hear that name again. When me and my dad and siblings and his wife went down va thats all we ate all and it wasnt quite impressive i was happy to get back to philly's buffets.
Enjoy your Halloween !! I LOVE Cracker Barrel, but not around here on Long Island : (

Ellen
