Idiots! Stand up and be Counted Today! (the idiots are the politicians, fyi)

Amen to that Brother Robot!

As I sit here this morning, with my fresh cup of hot coffee, Elixir of Life, I am struck by my annoyance this year with Election Day.

I have always been a believer of the hype.

You know the hype - 'Your vote counts!'

And, I still believe it does, and I am appalled by the fact that some 40% of people who could vote today won't, but will be plenty vocal about their unhappiness with this or that in the government.

I have always felt, if you didn't vote, then shut the heck up.

But, this Election Day, I just can't wait for it to be over.

The phone calls, the mailings, the commercials...

Please... just... stop.

The negative ads and the resultant mudslinging has been horrific!

Newsflash:  I already know why he or she sucks!  WHY should I vote for you?  What do you stand for or against?

Ugh.  Today and tonight, it ends.  The NJ Senatorial race has been ugly.  I think I know who will win.  I mean, one candidate is under investigation for the 5th or 6th time in his career, but finally this time by the Feds.

Makes it a no-brainer for me.

Being in the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State area we are lucky enough to get to see NY and CT's ugly campaign ads too.  Joy.

The only one not slinging mud in those elections was Senator Hillary Clinton, who is going to be re-elected in a landslide as she was basically running uncontested.

NY Comptroller race?  Ugly.  CT Senatorial race?  Super Ugly!

I can't wait for it to end.  I have Tivo, and I don't even get stuck watching all the commercials and I am sick of it!

Today, is the day.  All the idiots, good and bad, almost all mudslingers, will be counted.  Amen to that.

Aren't I just a ray of sunshine this morning?  I guess I need more coffee!  lol

be well,
Dawn

Happy voting and I totally agree that mornings should start in the afternoons!  I laughed at the bottom of your entry when you wrote "Aren't I a ray of sunshine?"  I am so not a morning person.  LOL.  I've taken to making a groaning "ugh" at my husband in the morning in place of the words "good morning."   Hugs,
Lisa

I have my coffee here too.

I, too, am sick of all the mud slinging.  The thing is that in my current state of cognitive dysfunction, I am confused as to who to vote for and who not to vote for.  My only certainty is Vito Fossella.  Why him you ask?  I have first hand experience with him.  He and his staff worked diligently to help get my Social Security Disability mess straightened out.  Of course, he had no impact on the decision of the judge.  But, for months my case sat on top of a file cabinet because my examiner had no clue what to do with me.  They were so set on denying me, but couldn't find cause.  Each and every doctor they sent me to agreed that I could not work.  Finally, they denied me on the basis of my inguinal hernia.  An obsecure reason because the only thing that was ever mentioned about that was that my ongoing auto immune flare was the direct result of that trauma and surgery.  Vito's office straightened out the mess.  Yes, I was denied but at least someone was there to take the time to try to fix it.  I was subsequently approved at the Administrative Law Judge hearing.  But, Vito and his staff took the time to help this one person.  I believe he does believe that one vote counts.

Hugs, Lu

I hate anything to do with politics and politicians, I just hope your results wipe the smirk of Tony Blair's face, I find his relationship with your president sickening.

We don't get too much hype in Britain over elections, no one here could care less.

Linda.

Dawn,
I'm one of the silent ones.  I don't say much, keep my opinions to myself and never, never miss voting.

See, I am a morning person, well at least in this time zone! I swear at five o'clock in the morning my body is still convinced that DH has somehow managed to miss PT because he's still in bed. Pay no attention to the fact that it is still pitch black outside because, well, it's five o'clock in the morning! LOL I used to be a stunch middle of the day type of girl. We moved here, thank you oh insightful ones who hand out transfers in the Army, and I'm a morning person, by lunch, I'm ready for bed. I was in bed sound asleep before 7 PM last night, what does that tell ya?

This should so be an email. Sorry. LOL

About voting. I did not vote and neither did DH. We still have no clue about what's going on here and all the amendments and whatnot and I just wasn't up to sorting out the mess this year. Had I voted, I would have voted for Jamie Pedersen. That guy rocks my socks. (http://www.peopleforpedersen.org/)

I don't care much for the local stuff, since we move so much. We're never in one place long enough to see any of it anyway. I care about the national level. I had a prof in college, I have a degree in political science, who swore up and down that you should not vote, it does not matter. He was registered to vote, never showed up for a single election. Pulled jury duty every year, said it was his civic duty.

See, now I really am rambling and should have just sent the email.

I'm not a ray of sunshine, I have pics for you about just that btw. Seven straight days of rain. Gr.

I'll shut up now....

Love ya,
Me.

I totally agree! I voted, wanted to make sure my voice was heard. I just wish more people would feel that way.
I'm so glad all of the negative ads are gone. Now we will have to contend with it during the Presidential race which isn't that far off anymore. It's really sad.

I agree 100%. The people who complain the loudest are the ones who don't bother voting.
