Hips Don't Lie

This is Pumpkin's Bowling Pin birthday cake, and Pumpkin blowing out the candles.

I love the effect with the candles blazing...

So, I am still hacking up phlegm, ewww, I know.  Bronchitis back in full bloom.  Feh.

No Enbrel shot for me, which sucks.  My hip is getting more sore as the days go by.  Feh.

I refuse to turn this into a complaining entry...

Anyhow, remember the brain tumor/thingy?  Yeah.  I forgot about it for a while, too.  Denial ain't just a river in Egypt! LOL

Well, my mom didn't forget, as I found out on Friday when she informed me to poop or get off the pot, about getting myself back to the doctor.

Hubby and I decided that next week he will bring my MRI cd from December to the Uber-neurosurgeon.  This way he can look at it and decide whether I need to come in and see him or not.  Hopefully, it will not have changed, and I will not have to go in to Columbia-Presbyterian for a visit.

Wouldn't that be nice?  It has been nice living in denial pretending the brain thingy isn't there and hasn't grown.  Not knowing can sometimes be fun.  :-)

Honestly, knowing won't change anything, anyhow.  If it is growing, there is nothing to do.  Just wait to have symptoms eventually, which hopefully will take years.  Feh.

I think that is why I have been lackadaisical about getting to the uber-neurosurgeon.

Does any of this rambling make sense???

OH!  By the way, Pumpkin was asked by her friend, and our next door neighbor, Chris (also 11), to be his Valentine!  Isn't that sweet?  Her very first 'official' Valentine, as she has pointed out.

I hope that this entry finds you all happy this Monday!

be well,
Dawn

Aww...first Valentine..  Very cute.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you don't have to go to Columbia-Presbyterian also.  Take care now--seems like everyone I know is sickly.  :(  Julie

Well, hopefully the tumor has stayed the same and sometimes not fretting and worrying until you have something to worry about is not a bad thing.  Love Pumpkin's bowling pin cake.  She is really becoming a young lady.  HUGS  Chris

Dawn, hang in there. I understand your reluctance to go to the specialist. I think I am the biggest procrastinator with respect to my health and doctors. I go once a year just so I can get new scripts for the medication that the Doc thinks I need and probably inore his advise to get some diagnostic work done. I have ignored him for thre years now.
At my age, 77, I feel reasonably well with a few aches and pains. Would like to live another ten years if I could maintain my current level of health and wellbeing.
I have led a full and successful life and have a great family with granchildren. All I want to do is play golf and it is, of course, too cold in PA to do that now. Looking forward to spring and warmer weather.
You at your age, with your medical problems, you should take advantage of what is available to you. As I look back I wish I had been more proactive in my own care and medical exposure.
Not sure why I am telling you this except my annual doctors appointment is this Thursday and I do not look forward to it.

What I really want to do is give you a {{{{hug}}}} and wish the best for you, Bill

PS loved the cake and pictures.

I have taken up a very comfortable residence in DENIAL.  It's nice there.  You'll do what you have to when you are ready to do it.

Great cake. Love the pics!
Saying a prayer that things will be better. Lots of love being sent too. You're too young to not get to those Drs & keep on top of things! :)

Hi Dawn,
What a great picture of Pumpkin blowing out the candles!  Don't beat yourself up -- or allow your mother to -- about so-called "denial."  It's your life, your choice.  If, as you point out, there is nothing the "uber-neurosurgeon" can really do -- or nothing to tell you to do other than "wait to have symptoms eventually" -- then who can blame you for putting special occasions like your daughter's birthday front and center and living life to the fullest?  You're obviously getting back to the doctor ... but you're doing it on your own terms, in your own timeframe.  Good for you and good luck.  My thoughts are with you.
Best,
Marty

Cute picture and cuter still "the first Valentine" oh I remember those days. Do as your Mom requests (Mothers do know best). I've been reading that there are all sorts of new things they are doing on inoperable tumors, including injecting the site with something that will make the tumor kill itself and shrink...ask about the cutting edge of new discoveries. You are in my thoughts & my prayers...love, Sandi

cute picture of Pumpkin!! so sweet she asked someone to be her Valentine!!

I lived in denial/fear for several months last year afraid of what would be an outcome of something that turned out much better than I thought; I say "go for it, see what the doctor says and then you at least know what you are dealing with" sometimes, especially with me, my imagination makes things far worse than they turn out to be; whatever do continue on with your plans to get things checked out

Oh, how sweet, Pumpkin's first Valentine!  I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with your hip.  It's very easy to put things in the back of your mind and just kind of "forget" them.  But you do need the answers.  I hope the bronchitis backs off soon.  I've got some chest conjestion still, probably have to go see the doc.  ::sigh::

Dawn

We all have our moments when we do need to vent, some call it complaining. But I call it venting. And when you vent, I do get a little sad and wish for better moments for you. Then at the end of your entry you leave me smiling. Yea, your just that kinda of girl. (smiling)

Great Cake & Prayers regarding your test & results.

so if it is growing, all knowing does is give you timeto prepare for symptoms, there's no treatment?
I am in awe of your attitude. I know there must be times you are frightened but you keep on keepin on. You are an inspiration to me.

Marti
