Libby Update

They only started Libby's surgery at 3pm.  There were emergencies and sicker dogs; we had been warned that might happen.

The surgery itself turned out to be more involved.  There was the outer fleshy tumor.  Unfortunately, there was also a separate second tumor just underneath her flesh, in her breast.  Neither tumor infiltrated bone or lung, but the doc did say the second tumor was 'a little worrisome'.   The biopsy results won't be back until the middle of next week.

They also required a much larger incision area, too, than originally expected.  So, they are keeping her overnight.  They will give her antibiotics and pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs.  We will also have to give her those at home as well.

We have to call tomorrow at 9:30am to make arrangements for her to come home.

I know it is the best place for her to be, but I hate her not being here.

Thank you everyone for all your prayers and good wishes.  It really helps to not feel alone.

be well,
Dawn

I'm glad the surgery went well, but sorry to hear about that second tumor.  I hope it turns out not to be too "worrisome" after all.

I quickly went though your journal/blog not reading too much right away, just looking at the pictures. But oh, I can't wait to sit with my cup of hot coffee to read your blog! You sound so interesting; what you're dealing with alone is inspiring! I look forward to reading your blog and learning a few things.

Oh no!  I know that "fur kid in the hospital" feeling too well.  I always cry a little when I think about how much they must miss being at home.

Sending good vibes.

Hey, I'm glad you chose Russ as one of your picks this week.  I believe I have the honor of being his very first reader and commenter:  I was looking for Kansas City journal folks and found him in time to comment on his second entry.  I've followed his blog ever since, and actually met him in person.  I consider him to be an adopted son of mine.

Hopefully she's home by the time I'm writing this, and resting comfortably.  Hang in there kiddo(that seems to be one of my favorite sayings lately).  Oh, and I did Pumpkins Meme-tell her I really enjoyed it.  We have a junior princesss of meme's here don't we?  :)
