Whimper <sigh>

And so, another year ends for the Yankees faithful fans.

A regular season that ended with a bang and many loud cracks of bats... ends in the post season with barely a whimper.

The Bronx Bombers definitely gave us fans an exciting second half of the season with a breathtaking ending, though.

Now, it is time for the Boys in Blue to go play golf in Florida and other green pastures, and time for this disappointed fan to turn to thoughts of white.

White, you say?  Yes, WHITE!  GO WHITE SOX!!!

Of course, my other two favorite sports are in swing now as well.

Football is just heading into the meat of the season.  I love the fact that there are only 16 games in the regular season and each and every one counts.  Go Giants, Go Jets!

Hockey, which has returned from an owner imposed stupid strike and long 18 month hiatus, is now returned with the regular season just getting underway.  Until football is over, I keep an eye on it, but don't get too wrapped up in it as the season is long.  Much like baseball, a lot can happen. Go Devils!

Remember, get your mammograms!

And, remember, the chubby middle aged lady who looks fine and is parking with a handicapped sticker may have an invisible disability such as Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis.  She may be having a good day, but still needs to park close to ease her walk, her joints, and in case a problem surprises her.

Don't judge, just smile instead.

Lupus Awareness!

Be well,
Dawn

Yes, don't judge indeed.  People still stare at me when I park in the handicapped with my handicapped placard.  They don't understand fibro.  Sometimes I even feel guilty, even though I know I am not, but their icey cold stares penetrate me.  What a shame.  A few winters ago when I needed to use one of those carts at a grocery store (the riding kind) I had a store employee stop me and chastise me on the way out.  I used it b/c I couldn't have made it through the store without one.  The employee/manager type person said, "You shouln't have taken that cart.  We had a man who came in here with a walker who wanted to use that, and he couldn't because you used it."  I saw the man.  I think he could walk better than me, lol.  I couldn't walk at all, except for the short distance from the car to the store, lol.  Some people are so ignorant.  Do they think I wanted to ride in that thing for fun.  This was a Wal-Mart, BTW.  But I am sure they don't do that at all the Wal-Marts.  Ok, my rant is over!

Oh, Dawn, there's always next year for the Yankees :) (I think the Padres are out of it too so I'm going to root for the White Sox too).

I'm up to date on my mammogram and a long time ago I stopped looking at who got out of cars with handicapped stickers on them. I like our store has spots for those and spots for expectant parents or parents with young children.

I love the don't judge, just smile part Dawn!  It would make life easier for many, smiling instead of having all that stress!  Great entry!  Lelly

Sorry to hear that your team lost. We're Braves fans but haven't watched any baseball this year. Too much other stuff going on.

You're so very right about the middle aged, chubby lady parking in the handicap spot at the store. She may very well have something you can't see. I use the handicap stall if I have to use the RR in public. I came out of the stall one day and much to my surprise got jumped by some woman in the RR. She told me that that stall is for people in wheelchairs and that I looked just fine to her. I told her, very calmly, that not because I have to but just for her information I have problems with my joints, including RA in both hips. I need the grab bars to pull myself back up. She looked befuddled.

Hugs,
Susan

It's sad that you have to mention the whole parking thing.  I have been guilty of giving dirty looks to people who look healthy taking those spots.  I have seen people park there and then run into the store.  It's upsetting but I promise I will just smile from now on and let God deal with them.
