Good Fortune

Last night we had Chinese food that we brought home.  We always make a big deal out of choosing and reading your fortune cookie with the kids.

I was so thrilled with my fortune that I have to share it with you!

It read, "You are a lover of words.  Someday you will write and publish a book."

For those of you who don't know, I LOVE to read and write!

And, I have started writing a novel!  I spent about the last 3 months outlining characters, developing plot, and accumulating research in a notebook, and just last week I started typing the first chapter.

I taped the fortune to the mirror over my dresser in my bedroom, so every day it will inspire me to continue!  Wish me luck!

Today has been an productive day!  Hubby worked on the basement that we have begun to finish.  He really worked hard and did a great job!  It is ready for him to finish the last bit of framing and then start electrical.

Hubby and I also ran to the mall to return a gift and then to have dinner alone.  It was very nice.  We had a wonderful appetizer of roasted garlic with crisp cheese foccacia crackers that the restaurant makes homemade.  Yummy!

It was also nice for us to talk without being interrupted, for a change!  And, we had quite a few things to discuss about the kids, upcoming camping and vacation issues.

It has been lightly misting on and off all day.  Not quite raining, not even a drizzle, but enough to be wet and yucky.  And, to make my joints creak and scream.  Dang, rheumatoid arthritis.  <sigh>

Oh yeah, I also colored my hair yesterday.  I am lucky that I am a medium to light blonde to begin with, and my hair takes color real well, without needing 2 steps or anything complicated.  However, it was starting to look a little too light, and brassy, so I had to add some neutral ash color back in to it.  It is better but almost a little too ashy now.  I guess nothing is ever 'just right', but it is close enough!  ;-D

be well,
Dawn

Cool fortune. There are only the 3 of us so we read all the fortunes and decide who fits each one. Fun. Glad you are having a good time...happy writing.--Cin

Oh I love reading the fortunes, it is so much fun!  Caleb just likes opening the cookies, ha ha.  I need a "kids night off" myself with the hubby.  But he is in the middle of 5 in a row and I've got the next 2 nights on myself.  Maybe one night this coming up week.  Oh and I spend a fortune on my hair about every 5-6 weeks for the perfect color and highlights.  Don't even ask how much, lol.  Good luck on the book and keep us updated!  ;) De

Wow, neat fortune.  I'm super impressed that you are writing a book.  I used to dream that one day I would but lost it somewhere along the way.  Dinner with hubby sounded nice and peaceful.  Love those smiley graphic/divider thingies...really cute.  HUGS  Chris

What a great fortune you got! I look forward to buying your book when it's published Ü I know you can do it.

A dinner with your husband and no kids is always a bonus and I'm glad you got to do that.

Have a great week!

Hugs,
Gretchen

Found my way to your journal from another one..I love that latin Carpe Diem.  Good luck with writing your book..I'm a fan of keeping those fortunes.   I have finally completed two of my blank book journals...I guess that counts kind of as writing books...doesn't it?  Just thought and reflections no plot..except for my life...I have about 15 other journals on various topics that are incomplete....will have to work on finishing them...some are only started with a couple of pages..others half done.....LOL.....I think all of us who journal are a lover of words...don't you?  Maria
