Karma... The Good, the Bad and the Kids

Here's the thing...

Even though the Hubby was totally against me cancelling my IV infusion appointment, he was noticeably relieved tonight.  :-D

That makes me happy.  He thinks I will regret it this weekend while I am sore...but I won't.

Tomorrow morning we are taking the kids out to breakfast at one of our local 'townie' luncheonettes.  The kids love to do this, and Hubby started the tradition last year.  I have tagged along a few times, but it is more a Daddy and kids thing.  Tomorrow I will tag along again, because it was the plan with me going to NYC.  The kids were very worried that I was going to back out, but I won't!

Pumpkin has somehow endeared herself to the Scoutmaster of my boys troop!  Last week, remembering a conversation with her about rocks (he is an amateur geologist/rock collector), he sent home a variety of wonderful rock, gem, and fossil specimens for her as a gift!

All in a special box, numbered with corresponding labels.

Pumpkin was THRILLED beyond belief!  She took them to school and showed them off.  And, she wrote Mr. T the most wonderful little thank you letter, all in her own words, all with pictures of really cool rock formations on it.

Tonight, her brothers and dad came home with another surprise for her from Mr. T,  a wire sculpture, built on a beautiful crystalline rock, and with individual natural turquoise leaves!

Just gorgeous!

And, since her birthday is on next Wednesday, meeting night, he is allowing Pumpkin to attend the meeting as a special guest!!!   Needless to say, she was over the moon about it all!

Mr. T is a wonderful Scoutmaster, and a sweet, generous man, and has taken to both Hammer and Fuzzy with as much delight if not more, but, I didn't expect Pumpkin to somehow become a part of it all, too.

The funny thing is that we knew Mr. T's wife really well for years, but until the boys started Scouts, we didn't put the two of them together!  My kids all attended a local Lutheran nursery school, and Mrs. T was the secretary there!  Small world!

be well,
Dawn

What special gifts for Pumpkin!  My Becky was a little science whiz from day one and loved rocks.  She would have been "gaga" with gifts like that.  The breakfast sounds like so much fun.  Glad you made your postponement decision.  Looks like it worked out for the best.  HUGS  Chris
