In the Air Tonight

What a fun but long day!

It started at 8pm in a rush to get to the annual town parade!

Hubby and the boys marched with Boy Scouts again this year.

To the far left, is Hubby, with the travel coffee cup dangling out of his back pocket!  Next is Fuzzy, in the center left, in glasses and shorts, just raising his hand in a wave.  Center right, with the flag kind of behind his head, is Hammer looking serious for a moment!

Pumpkin decided not to march this year.  She could have marched with either Girl Scouts or her Dance School, both of which heckled her as they passed, for not marching.  She decided she wanted to relax and watch this year.  I didn't care, whatever makes her happy!

This cartoon below is courtesy of Russ at, Inner and Outer Demons , but it is from his Hallmark Cards work blog at the Shoebox Division, called tinylittledivision.com .  Go check them both out...

After the parade we came home, the boys got changed, and off we went to see Transformers!  I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised!!!  Spielberg and Lucas were able to make a movie that was the perfect balance of sci-fi, alien invasion, comedy, patriotic, action, hi-tech and romance!

Hammer was in 7th heaven!  His special gal-pal came along, and he was very excited to share the experience with her!  Even grandma told Hammer that she loved the movie!  And, usually all this sci-fi Transformer stuff goes right over her head!  LOL

I recommend the movie if you want to go and see one that entertains you from start to finish, without wringing you out.  You walk out feeling great!  This isn't a cerebral flick at all, but worth every dollar we paid.  I rarely feel that after we exit movies nowadays!

I am glad we saw it on the big screen, the CGI effects were phenomenal and seamless.  I did have to go to the ladies room with Pumpkin twice, so I am looking forward to the dvd so I can see what I missed!!!  I actually missed one crucial thing... argh!  Oh well, I can wait!

We decided to go out to dinner which ended up being a bit of a quest in and of itself!  The first restaurant, our fave townie one, was closed.  Next stop, they were super short of wait staff as they had called in 'sick' (read: drunk), and the wait for seating alone, would be about an hour.

Third and final stop... The Outback - success!!  A very nice meal, too.  Yay.  Hats off to you, Outback, apparently you were ready and raring to go for all of us non-barbecuing people today!

It was a busy and 'kid' driven day... tomorrow, rest!  LOL

ps...  We had grey skies for the morning and most of the day.  The rain came about dinner time, with showers on and off.  Thunder storms started about 10 pm.  At least most of the celebrations around us were complete by then!

be well,
Dawn

Oooo I love parades, just hate getting up for them, lol.  Why can't they have night parades?  The boys look like they are having fun.  Good for Pumpkin for not caving in and doing what she wanted this year.  We saw Transformers on Monday night here in Phoenix.  I agree, worth ever $ we spent!  Caleb was so funny he was giving me the rundown on who was who and what kind of transformer they were.  Towards the end Caleb goes "You need to cover your ears for this part Mom, it's almost the end and it's going to be a big fight.  They always have a big fight at the end."  Too cute.  We did the BBQ hamburger bit and then went to the big hill at the top of our neighborhood and we could see about 8 or 9 different firework shows around town.  Too bad it was 105 degrees out.  Oh well, we chose to move to AZ!  Happy 4th!  De ;)

My daughter and I went to lunch yesterday and a movie.  Like you, we found two restaurants closed -- but found an Italian bistro open and enjoyed it very much.  Then we saw Ratatouille.  We both liked it, very entertaining.
loving you

Dawn,
The guys look so good in their uniforms.  Their neckerchiefs are the same color as ours.  I guess it's common for people not to stand for the flag any more...sad.
Glad you had a good 4th.
