Only the Good Die Young

Fuzzy's hamster was found dead last night.

It was not a good thing to have happen at bedtime, the night before leaving for Boy Scout camp.

Needless to say, it was a long night until about 1:30am.  And, a very early wake up at 8am.  Lightning, aka Tweak, lived a long life for a hamster.  Their lifespan is generally, 1-3 years.  He was about 6 months when we bought him, and it just was 2 1/2 years since his adoption.

A new hamster is in our future, I am sure.

Boy Scout Camp starts today.  The boys and Hubby left at 10 am.  This is the longest I have been away from Hubby and the boys, and they from me.  :(

It is a weird feeling.  I am sure Pumpkin Muffin will keep me busy, though.  She already has two sleepovers planned, and is pushing for #3!  Yikes!  lol

Thankfully, with cell phones, and Hubby's Blackberry, I will have email from them each day, and will probably speak to them, too.

The wonders of the modern world we live in... you can always reach someone!  Sometimes, that is good, sometimes that is bad, but for me this week, very good!

As for the bees... yes, we do seem to be being stalked, don't we?  All the stings were at our town pool, and they are aware, but since the grass area is right next to the pool, and kids and adults with wet bare feet walk on it.  We just have to wear our flip flops and be careful.

I will have camping updates as the week goes one!  The boys are each taking classes Monday thru Friday, as follows:  Citizenship in the Nation, First Aid, Camping, Archery, Wilderness Survival.  And, Hammer has an additional class, Mammal Studies.

be well,
Dawn

We had a teddy bear hamster named Fred who lived about three years, too.  He used to escape from his cage, travel three rooms thru the house to the playroom and jump into the toybox to sleep.  or maybe it was the random Froot Loops at the bottom?  Either way, he was awesome.

Hopefully, Tweak has met Fred in Hamster Heaven.  :-)

Aww...it's hard for kids to lose a pet. You definitely will have to replace soon. When I saw your title on this one I got a little scared due to my watching so many friends fighting for their lives. My computer was giving me grief aka Verizon hell, my phone wires were all messed up. I had to redo everything, even got a new number after 21 years of having the same one. Dsl seems to be working better though, so maybe now I can get back to posting again...take it easy, love, Sandi

That time comes sooner or later with any pet, Dawn, but big or small, it doesn't get any less sad when they pass away.

Sorry to hear about Fuzzy's hamster hon. The guys sound like they are in for a mini adventure. With Pumpkin planning on sleepovers sounds like you are too (winks). Try to get some sleep and "me" time for yourself. (Hugs) Indigo

Awww. R.I.P Lightning a.k.a. Tweak. I'm sure Fuzzy will miss you.

WOW all the guys are out of the house... GIRL PARTY!!! WOO HOO!!!

I love archery stuff and the wilderness survival sounds fun. Hope they have a great time and the bees leave them alone. Maybe they should check into that for the first aid stuff.

Take care, Chrissie

Poor,Fuzzy!  Poor,Tweak!  I had a lot of hamsters as a kid and I love'em all!  Of course the special one's were always able to make me sad when they died.  Do you know what it died from?  I mean I had a hamster live to nine years old and then die of old age?  Did Tweak maybe have a cold or something?  -Dawn-

Losing a pet is losing a friend..  Sorry for the loss of little Tweak, and for Fuzzy's sadness.  I know that camp will cheer him up and give him many reasons to smile.

My girls both have a hammy... They love those guys!  It's hard when they leave us, truly heartbreaking for kids especially, but they also learn how to go on and endure those life-lessons.

Hope the week improves!
