Turn the Page

::: sigh:::

Tonight, my uncle Jim, from Minnesota, who is in NJ on business, met us at a favorite restaurant for dinner.  It was really nice to see him!  Those of us going to IN for the wedding, will see him and his whole family there on Labor Day weekend.  I am really looking forward to that!

Did you ever just want to turn ahead a few pages in life? I do.

Not a lot going on here; I was quite 'excited' over a new metal mesh hamster wheel, since it lets the pee drip through, because I was tired of cleaning the dried pee off the 'old' solid plastic one, but really, who wants to hear all about that?  Sorry, so sorry.

As if I wasn't feeling insecure enough about my weight, my brain tumor, my lupus/RA, and going away with 2 kids without hubby, my cousin brought me two of her very best 'fat' dresses that no longer fit her anymore since she lost weight.  :::sigh:::  I know that she didn't mean it that way, and I appreciate the thought, but, yeah, you know what I mean.

I did color my hair today which was very over due.  To save money, I have been doing it myself, which I hate, but I 'suck it up for the good of team', as they say.  (I don't know who 'they' are but I hate 'them')

To try to make it more pleasant for myself, I only do it when Hubby is home (and he was home early today), and I announce it to all, and then LOCK myself in the bathroom for the entire time.  After putting the gunk in my hair, I read a magazine and drink coffee/water, by myself, all the while.

I can still pretend, I am a diva at a salon can't I?

Yeah, it isn't quite as much fun, but I go girl!

(The hardest part is squeezing the bottle of gunk out with sore hands, and then the blow drying and styling.  You should see the swelling on my hands and wrists tonight, ugh.)

Let's see, what else.  My mom is in horrible mood, which I think is 80% work related, 10% my dad, and probably 10% me.  I don't know what I did, but I am sure it is more what I didn't do.  I do try my best, Mom.  Really.

Libby, the infamous yellow lab, has the beginnings of another ear infection.  The extremely damp last 5 days, with on and off drizzles, has taken their toll, the poor dog.  :(  She hates the ear drops I have to put in her ears, but loves the slice of American Cheese she gets with it, so she does take them like a trooper.

I just realized something neat.  I will be 42 on November 22nd.

Libby will be 6 on November 26th, which in human years is 6x7=42.

So, yes, Libby and I will both be 42 this November!  Woohoo!

I wonder if she will 'spritz' when she sneezes, too, or if that is just a joy of human middle aged women, who have popped off three kids?  ::: sigh :::

Yeah.  Tomorrow, book sorting, general 'getting ready for school' stuff, and organizing and downsizing, around the house.  Wish me luck, the kids don't exactly 'enjoy' this stuff!  lol

And, please, stay tuned for more heart stopping excitement.

be well,

Hey-it can't all be sleepovers and fun stuff. :(  I quit coloring my hair when I was like 35.  The silver looks pretty good and the hassle is no more!
Libby looks so sweet.  I miss having a dog.  Hope she'll be okay.
Ahh-to see 42 again. :)
Have a great, albeit uneventful week.  Good luck getting things organized and lined up for school.
                                 Smiles,  Leigh

I don't think I could ever do my hair color. I would hate to see if if I did. I'm sure your hair looks great even though I know it's hard with the sore hands. So sorry about that.  The wedding sounds fun, I know you well have a good time.

So great you got to visit with your uncle!!!  I love seeing family, well, sometimes. LOL.  I must have missed something about a wedding... who is getting married?  Congrats on the new hamster wheel and so sorry about the cousin bringing the wrong kind of clothes.  Like maybe we'll just hope she won't be going to the wedding!!  LOL.  Hugs,

I make my husband color my hair.  :-D  I hand the box to him and say "You can either do it for me or hand me $50 to go get it done."

I went shopping today and had to buy a bigger size than last time.  There are few things more humbling than being in a fitting room, semi clothed, trying to squeeze into something that USED TO be the right size.  ::sigh::

I have hubby do my hair. You should too, since it's difficult . I wouldnt be able to do my own, since my hair is so long.
Ok- your comparing your age to your dogs and then the word "spritz" with sneezing, so I'm outta here!!!!!

Love ya

Wow you get to do your own hair.  I think I am totally jealous of that fact.  I tell myself all the time that I want to comb my hair or do something different to it.  I'm not sure what the heck can be done.  I haven't put any type of chemicals in my hair for at least 4 years.  I have experienced the hair falling out and I don't want to go through that anymore.  Instead I have this sometimes nappy, sometimes curly little fro that I have been stuck with for years.  When I lift my arms to comb my hair its a sad state of affairs.  So I cry and I swell so I don't do anything.  I'm glad that at least you do something.

You go girl.  Hugs.  Tish G.

You go girl!!!!!! You can lift your arms to color your own hair? I can't even brush my hair right or wash it properly with the problems with right arm. I hope you have a great day. ((((hugs)))))))

Love the title of this entry - That was the name of my old journal (and it was because of that very song ~ Love that song). Happy to hear you enjoyed your visit with your uncle. Sorry you had to do the salon diva alone. Being a hairdresser, I find myself being all alone, doing my hair too (don't trust the hubby to do it, he helped me cut my hair.... once - Yikes).  A little spritz here, a little spritz there, no harm, no foul! Hope you are enjoying your day of stuff! Take care,

Achy, swollen and feelin' fat...that's the pits. ((((((Dawn))))))) But a mesh hamster wheel that lets the pee pee drop through? Wowie zowie, that's cool.
Skip the style and blow dry. It doesn't enhance the color any. Let the hair air dry and RELAX!
Poor floopy eared dog. When I had a lab, we dealt with the ear-matters every summer, too. I'm glad you and Libby have each other to take care of. --Cin

Another day, hunh?  My mom did the same thing with clothes that my cousin couldn't fit into anymore because she had lost weight.  "Let's give them to Chrissy.  They'll fit her."  Ugh but oh well.  BTW:  I think your hair looks great to blah to whoever made that remark.  HUGS  CHris

I brib Sasha with frosty paws ice cream.  Poor thing had a vet visiit the other day and the tail mystery has been solved.  She's going to need an x-ray on her stomach too.  Geez, why all the sicky dogs?  -Dawn-

Oh David made a grid for the guinea pig so all the pee and poop fall through.  I did my own hair for a while back when I was a single mom, hated it.  I just got my hair done a week 1/2 ago a for the first time in 3 months.  I did the color more "conservative".  I hate it.  My politics may run that way, but I like pizazz in my hair.  Ugh.  Now I'll have to endur it and wait.  Pooh.  How did yours turn out?  Was it worth the sore hands and wrists?  De ;)

You know what?  I enjoy hearing about your "not much going on" kind of days!  They are homey and remind me of my own days!
