Show Me the Way

Ahhh... can you smell the sweat?  Hear the grunts and the tackles?  See the colors... the formations... the grass stains?

That my friends, is how you know it is FOOTBALL time!  Yes, the NFL pre-season has begun... none of that 'futbol'/soccer crap (sorry Gaz, Lyn, Kath, Linda et al), but the real All American deal!!!!  Wooo hooo!!!!

The pigskin is on the loose again!!!!!   The Giants, the Jets, Favre, Shockey, Brady, Leinart, the Mannings!!!  YAY!

Can you tell I really love football?  I do!!!  I love football and all it heralds... the autumn, nature's magic show of colors, crisp cool air, Sunday's watching 'the games', Monday's talking and reading about it, and then, getting ready to do it all again for the next weekend!  And, once football starts, the end of baseball season is near and that is exciting, too!

<<<sigh>>>  Yep... I am a happy gal!

So, let me catch you all up on life at Dawn's Crazy House of Summer Kid Fun Madness!

Karol, my cousin, arrived at 10am with Dunkin Donuts and her youngest son, who will be hence nicknamed 'Red', thanks to his gorgeous strawberry blonde thick hair.

We drank coffee, ate donuts or bagels, drank more coffee, and caught up on life.  It was very nice.  The kids, ran around like loons, played video games, ran in and out of the house, you all know the drill.

About 3 pm, we said our good byes.  Karol and her family went today to Hershey Park for some more family fun and kiddie madness.  God Speed, Karol.  LOL

Of course, I will be seeing them all in Indianapolis, Labor Day weekend!  Our hotel is the same!  Yay!  I am looking forward to more time together, and visiting with other membersof our family that we don't see much at all due to geographic location issues!  Yay!

Another high point on Saturday, my parents (thanks, mom and dad) took the kids out to dinner so that Hubby and I could go out alone.  This was a very much needed dinner out.  We haven't had a quiet dinner alone in about 2 months or so, and I needed it, being the at home mommy and host of Summer Kid Madness.  LOL

Today, was the Yankee game that my mom won 6 tickets for at the baseball end of year festivities.  Hubby took Hammer and Fuzzy, our friend Bob and his son, DogBoy, and their friend Russ!  AND, the Yankees won!!!!  Woot woot!!!  The Pennant Race is on, and the Yankees are doing their late season hot streak!!!  Yes!!!!!

We do not usually have the opportunity to go to this many games, but it all happened at the same time!  LOL  Pumpkin and I had a girls day again, which was really nice!  We went bowling, and Pumpkin did great.  We also had lunch their together, during the bowling, and on the way home did a quick errand at the drug store, where Pumpkin walked out with Twizzlers and sidewalk chalk.  What's not to love???

In other exciting news, Fuzzy was invited to be a Student Ambassador at his school by the new incoming principal.  As an ambassador he will be a 'big brother' to a specific incoming 4th grader to the school, and will help show them around and advise them for the year!  Also exciting, is that his classmate and our neighbor Vi (a girl) who lives across the street was also asked, as was DogBoy and Russ, Fuzzy's friends and fellow scouts!  I am so excited and proud for them all.

It was a really nice weekend, kids, family, baseball, football, good food... can't complain.  I could, but I won't!

Looking forward to more exciting things this week!

be well,
Dawn

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT....yes another football fanatic family--I read your email...it made me laugh because yes your family sounds like mine...LOL
Love watching the game...talking about it...keeping up with all the HIGHLIGHTED players...the whole nine yards...and just to add a bit more spice...I only love one baseball team...have been to many games growing up....don't really watch much of it now...but I do watch the highlights, and that team is the YANKEES....how very cool...my dad used to take me to their games...I loved the cheering, the snack foods, the organ playing those baseball sounds/music...and seeing homeruns with my own eyes in person...WOW...great memories...have been watching football all weekend here...and then inbetween watching training shows-behind the scenes...I am in heaven.
Nothing compares to a spicy and hard hitting football season---
Glad your weekend was great...sounds nice having time with just hubby...
Peace

Sorry Dawn, you've got it wrong, your so called football is crap. Our soccer (as you Americans call it)  is called football here and it pre-dates your ridiculous version of it. How anyone can be bothered to follow the ridiculous posturings of those oversized, overfed oafs is beyond me. Not to mention all that body armour!

Our game requires athletiscm and skill and is known as the 'Beautiful Game' for a very good reason.

I also dislike Rugby for the same reasons. My thoughts on Rugby are...... get on with the game instead of sticking your head between another chap's legs and then all falling down in a girlie heap!!!!!

I'm afraid we're just going to have to disagree on this one. :-)

Congrats to the kids on the big brother/sister thing. I think our school calls it shadowing. Wow another girls day great. When you were saying about your parents taking the kids out to eat and you and hubby got to eat alone. I was thinking of this commercial where the grandparents/kids and the alone parents all ended up at the same restaurant too funny. Glad that didn't happen for you all. Family time sounds like fun for sure. I wish I lived closer to my family. It would make it easier to see everyone. I'm not a big football fan, but I do love fall.
Take care, Chrissie

Oh Yeah.  Football Season Rocks.  Back when I worked part-time it was Football time from 11:30am to the Late night post-game shows.  Watched more than hubby! ;)  I owe the Lions an-Okay, I'll give you a chance this year, too.  They looked pretty good Friday nite.
It sounds like Fuzzy and friends have important responsibilities.  It'll be good for them.
These girls days will be special memories for you and Pumpkin both.  Glad you enjoyed it.
Also, the date with hubby. :)  It's good for both of you.
Have a great week.        Smiles, Leigh

Great news for Fuzzy, and glad your parents helped give you and hubby that alone-time.  You really like footbal, don't ya !  "Red" has hair to be envied, lucky kid!  The boys of summer actually WON?  Well this is the time they slways pick-up speed.  I wore a Yankees baseball cap all over Asbury and got strange looks, who cares lol.  Must've been fun bowling with Pumpkin.  Well Dawn, rest up cause Labor Day creeps up before ya know it!  xoxo CATHY

I just want fall to come.  Football or not.  I was looking at your weather pixie.  66 degrees.  It's at least 85 and that felt good.
Glad you got to get together with family.  Sounds like a good time!

American football is for whusises! Rugby is the game of men. The only thing protecting you is a jock strap. All those American football players could be hit with a tank and would withstand the impact!
Ducks quickly and now runs for my life!
