Communication Breakdown

I got this cartoon in an email this week, and laughed my butt off.... at myself!!

Aaaaah yes, the tears, the tears, they're a flowin... (to the tune of 'Danny Boy')  (( scary, aren't I?))

I don't know why, but as this appointment with the neurosurgeon approaches, I am losing it more and more.  I am getting more anxious, more 'in my head', which considering that is where they want to drill, probably isn't a good idea.

(cue the comedic drums)  Ba-da-bum... ting!

In order to melt my mind, I have been playing Jewel Miner.  I haven't been able to read much... which is annoying to me, but I am having a focusing problem.

Isn't the color of this text awful?  It matched the cartoon... I do try to coordinate!

Okay, there has been this meme thingy going around where you tell 7 Things about yourself that no one knows.  I do so many meme-ish things, I figure you all know everything already, but I do like a challenge and I need to keep my mind busy.

7 Things You Do Not Know About Me

1.     Although, you all know I am a bit of an insomniac, you don't know that I have been this way since childhood.  Yep.  Somewhere right around age 8, it started.  I would have an awful time falling asleep.  Even in the perfect temp, with perfectly proper bed sheets, etc... It would take me hours.  Many a night I pretended to be asleep when my parents checked on me at 11pm when they came upstairs to go to bed.

2.     The toilet paper has to come over the top.  Everyone here just knows to do it.  If I go to your house and you have it the other way, I will switch it.  Yes, I know... issues.  feh... I could be worse...  lol

3.     I hate black ink pens.  I will only use medium point, blue ink.  Or other colors for fun, occasionally.  You can always tell an original at first glance when done in blue ink.

4.     I passed the test to join Mensa in 1983, but then found out that you had to pay to become a member.  The nearest chapter to me then was in NYC, and I couldn't afford it so didn't join.

5.      I can still remember my high school locker combination, 32-24-0, yet routinely will dream that I cannot remember it, and cannot get into my locker!  It is a recurrent dream I have when stressed.  I also will dream of being in high school and that I cannot find my way to my class or I lose my schedule... strange, I know.

6.     I really like to gamble.  I love roulette, slots, the wheel, Blackjack, poker games... all of it.  I would love to enter a Texas Hold 'Em tourney someday!   At 16 on a trip to Atlantic City with my parents, I was sitting and playing at a blackjack table for 2 hours, was served 2 free drinks, and walked away a winner!  lol

7.     I used my exeptionally good cleavage twice to get my friends and myself into very picky NYC night clubs, and out of the cold standing in line.  Yes, cleavage, long blond 80's hair and blue eyes, will get you through the velvet rope!  The first time was at the Limelight (it was a church converted into a club, very cool) for my 19th birthday.  I became legal in NYC on that day, back then in 1984.  The second time was at Studio 54 before it shut its doors for good.  Men...  @@

Okay... that is that!  It took me a half hour to think of things I had not previously put in this blog!  :-D

If you haven't played this one... you should!

be well,
Dawn

I sometimes have those dreams too...about the locker combo.  I also have dreams of being in class for a test, and I don't know any of the answers, or coming to school in slippers.  The dream I hate the most are the dreams where I am dialing the phone number, and I don't remember the number, or the phone doesnt' work..  Errr..high anxiety dreams I guess.  What you need is a good drink sweetie; not coffee though.  Take care; things will be okay.  Julie :)

I am SO opposite of you on the ink pen thing!  Black rules and Blue drools!!  Since I stopped taking my anti-sad pills, the tears can come at anytime.  I guess I had gallons of them stored up.  It's just stress.  Crying is perfectly okay and don't let anybody tell you it's not.

Hug,
Russ

My goodness Dawn but I'm shocked!  Used your female accutements??  Toilet tissue over the top??  Of course Mensa charges a fee, they always have.  But if you pay you probably shouldn't be in it lol.  And AC?  As a Joisey gal I *had* to go once, in the 70s, bored senseless.  Nice to see how different we all are!  Still, that cleavage thing?  O Dawn!  xoxo CATHY

Ha ha ha. That toilet roll thing! I'm exactly the same, I think it gives out bad vibes if its on the wrong way and am on a worldwide mission to get them all going the right way. lol. Why would anyone want it hanging down the back?

Dawn, facing brain surgery is more than enough to ratlle the nerves.  Everybody will breathe a huge sigh of relief when it's all said and done.  This meme had me chuckling.  Hmmm...cleavage and Studio 54...you go, girl..lol.  I'm 53 and at least once a month I still dream that I'm back in highschool and lose my schedule or can't read it.  I also dream that I'm late for my classes.  I'm sure there is some significance to it.  Have a good weekend!  HUGS  Chris

Ha! Apparently we are the same age! :-)

The dreams...that is the kind high achievers have. I have the one where it is the end of the semester and I have this one class that I have not been going to all semester...which is so not me. I have it when I'm a student usually and under stress.

I think if I was in NYC around that time, I just might have been able to do the same thing! HA!

Don't worry Dawn.  They drilled a hole in Keith Richards' head after he fell out of a tree, and the world survived (much to my surprise).

So, I figure the worst that could happen with you would be Fabio popping from your noggin to run around looking for a tub of imitation butter.

Ah yessssss, those dreams of the high school locker combination being locked somewhere in the mind and unaccessable.  Seconds are racing by, you know the bell is going ring any moment and still no enlightenment lol.  Every so often I still have that dream lol.
loving you

OK.... my interpretation of your high school schedule losing dream is this (and I frequently have the same dream) High school is a time of our lives when we feel the most acute lack of control over our own lives. We have adult intellectual capacity but lack adult wisdom - and therefore still require adult supervision which is quite frustrating. I find that when I have the lost schedule/forgot my locker combination dreams that it is when I have something going on in my life that has left me feeling terribly out of control. See if you can find the same connection. The dream dictionary says that school dreams address childhood insecurities.
I'm all about dreams today for some reason.
hope you have a great Saturday!
*hugs*

The ten minutes before an appointment is always worse than the whole week before, isn't it? Breathe! Do you keep forgetting to breathe? That's what I do...find myself holding my breath. Breathe, breathe, breathe.
#7 is waaaaay too true.

Oh you are funny. But I am impressed..Mensa? Now you really have to write that book too. Oh I can remember the days of Studio 54, I had to behave myself so I didnt go. My time was disco mania anyway, I came alive in my 30's.  Sandi
