Fun, Fun, Fun

Saturday was a nice day.  Fuzzy had a play date, Hammer had his gal-pal over, and Pumpkin had dance class.

It was also so for dinner we headed to Chili's at my kids insistance.

After the chips and dip appetizer, the kids and Hubby stayed away from true Mexican fare, but I had the quesadilla!

We all laughed and had a nice time, and afterward, went to our local ice cream shop, which just reopened for the season.  I had cake batter ice cream.   It is delicious, and tastes just like yellow cake batter!  I am strange, I know!

I watched Hubby and the kids play some wiffle ball and then we had family time and watched some tv shows together before getting the kids to bed.

Yesterday, Hubby decided to relieve his stress by baking!  He doesn't even realize he does this, but he does!  He bakes, when he feels like things are out of control.

And, he does it with the kids, which is great!

So, Hubby and kids baked a chocolate bundt cake, iced with chocolate icing and sprinkles, and a chocolate chip banana bread!  Both were delicious, but the banana bread was my pick of the day!

There was more playing outside and inside, and the kids were pooped by bedtime.  Overtired though, which leads to crankiness, but we all survived.

Ooops, I forgot Friday!  It was a nice night too!  Pumpkin had a dance hosted by our town's drug free kids/teens program!  She had a blast.

Hubby, the boys, and myself went to Borders Books and got a few things.  I picked out a great book for Pumpkin, and she was thrilled.   The boys also convinced Hubby to let them buy the new Spiderman 3 game for Xbox 360.  They used their own money, mostly all of Fuzzy's and a bit from Hammer.

It was a really nice weekend.  Restful, and NOT focused on worrying about anything healthwise, and all of us were HOME together for the the first time in three weeks, so that was really great, too.

be well,
Dawn

I am glad you had such a great weekend. And I can relate to that baking-when-life is-nuts thing. It's an attempt to put order in the messy universe. Sometimes it even works! --Cin

I'm glad you had a nice weekend.  I had to snag that blinkie just now about families being like fudge.  My God.  After this weekend, I need a break from MY family--not the husband and kids, but everyone else!  Peeew.. What's worse is that I can't even write about it!  Julie :)

What I REALLY love about this entry is, what you eat! Here's me thinking I have an unhealthy diet and you had...what! Chips, Dips, Ice Cream & Cakes. Dr Gillian, our Diet Doctor on TV here would have a fit! Keep going girl, I think I'll just cut myself another hunk of cheese!

Sounds like a good Cinco de Mayo celebration to me.  We were at Chili's on Wednesday.  Joey and I went to a little Mexican restaurant on Saturday which serves authentic Mexican food at a super reasonable price.  It's sooo good.  Glad you had a wonderful family time together.  HUGS  Chris

Cake batter ice cream is my favorite!  So good.  Stone cold creamery or Maggie Moo's has the best.
That is so cute that your hubby bakes to relieve stress.  Cute and so fun!
