Books Books Books

I am currently reading 3 books.

Before bed, I have been reading 'Don't Know Much About Mythology' by Kenneth C. Davis.  I started reading it as research for the book I am writing, but I have fallen in love with it.  It is an awesome read, and I highly recommend it to those who would like to know more about the 'myth' and its foundation for religion, as well as those who just enjoy learning, like me!

I also read the first chapter of 'Dark Celebration' by Christine Feehan, but stopped after receiving another book in the mail that totally captured my attention.

The book is 'The Devil in the White City' by Erik Larson.  Fabulous.  It is subtitled, 'Murder, Magic and the Madness at the Fair that changed America'

It is a non-fiction, a history of specific events and people in Chicago relating to and around the 1892 Worlds Fair.  However, it reads like a novel.  Erik Larson is very talented in how he presents the facts and history of the men and events of the time.

I am half way through it, I will fill you in more, when I finish! ;-D

Sometimes, it is so nice to be alone in the house!  Hammer and my Mom went out to lunch and to run some errands.  I know he wanted me to go, too, but it is nice for him to have alone time with Grandma, and for me to have ALONE time.  LOL

The boys and Hubby are all packed and ready to go to their Boy Scout camp.  They are going to a new camp for them at the Alpine NJ/NY border.  It has and indoor rock climbing wall, very cool.

Most cool is no latrines, but indoor flushing toilets in each cabin, a first.  Thank goodness, my boys usually come home quite constipated!!!

Girls night tonight for Pumpkin and I!  We might watch a movie, since March Madness seems to have taken over the tv.  Dang college basketball.

be well,
Dawn

it has been forever since I have been able to read.. because it just consumes me when I do and nothing else gets done around here lol.   But I am making an effort to read a book called "Why I left Jihad", by Walid Shoebat.  So far it is very eye opening and I am sure eventualy I will do an entry about it.

Much Love,
Mary

I read in the summer months or while on a trip.  Never sit and read at home.  The teens and hubby keep me really busy.  That and grocery shopping, cleaning, errands appts for all of us and on oand on.  I don't work outside the home, but I sure have a helluva full time job.  Have a great girls night tonight.
I always love you graphics.  :)

Because you and I are members of the same Rheumatic Tribe, I'll TRY to ignore that last line about March Madness!

I have so many new books waiting to be opened (I'm a compulsive Border's shopper), but when I get in the mood to kick back and read I tend to prefer reading old favorites I've already read many times.  Oh well...

Thanks for the recommend on the books, I might check them out myself. Nothing like a good non-fiction that reads like fiction (winks). It's always nice to have a little alone time to gather your thoughts about you. (Hugs) Indigo

I really need to get myself back into reading.  I used to have at least two books in the works at one time.  Enjoy your evening with Pumpkin.  March Madness...blah....the only good thing I ever thought about it was that my son's Mustang just happens to be a Seven Up Limited Edition that was manufactured for March Madness.  We didn't know when he bought it until he looked up the VIN...lol.  HUGS Chris
