Chilly Willy

Wow!  The weather people said the temps were going to drop and they were not kidding!

It is 11 degrees!  And, with the wind whipping around the way it is doing, it feels like -10 degrees.  Brrrr...

The poor kids!  I bundled them up like little eskimos, all the while with them rolling their eyes at me!  They just had to walk from the car into school, as they will line up in the gym before class, but still!

I am lucky, I put on a fleece pullover in the garage, turn on my heated seats, pull out of the garage, drive them to school, drive home, and pull back into the garage.  All in slippers and pj's the whole way!

Today is a busy day!  The tax appraisal lady is popping in between 10 and 10:30 am, Hammer has his every 3 month appointment for his Asperger's at 1pm, and this afternoon at 4pm is orthodontist for Hammer and Fuzzy.

Hammer is reading a book called 'Born on a Blue Day' by Daniel Tammet.  It is written by a man with Asperger's/Autism and he wanted to share his experiences with the hopes that it will help others.  After Hammer is done reading it, I will.

Everyone on the Autistic Spectrum is different, yet there are common threads, especially with those that are very gifted, like Hammer and this man.

However, today is too busy a day for me, especially with tomorrow being my Orencia IV in NYC, but that is how the cookie crumbles.

This is how I would rather be tomorrow....

Yes, hooked up to coffee.  I am drinking my second wonderful cup right now.

Instead, I will be hooked up to an IV bag of medicine.

Last month, I had no bruising at ALL.  Not where they took the 3 vials of blood or where the IV was located.  That has NEVER happened!   I can't wait to tell Krystal, the RN that did them!  But, I will wait until after my new ones are in, so I don't make her, or whichever RN I have, too nervous.

I really cannot say enough nice things about the RN's in the Infusion Unit.  They treat you like you are at a spa, and you are queen for the day, not like you are a patient getting loaded up with immune system suppressing meds.  :-D

I am looking forward to getting the Orencia on board because my hands and elbows are very sore.

Such is life with rheumatoid arthritis. ;-D

be well,
Dawn

I like the vision of you driving around town in your pjs and slippers. And the Orencia appointment being like a spa treatment. That's great. As it should be!--Cin

I've had about enough of the cold weather myself. Does anyone know of a message board, or perhaps an address, or a customer service complaint number where we can log an official request of warm weather to old fickle Mother Nature?? Of course, I don't want to piss the old lady off, but she really needs to lighten up.
I hope your schedule gives you a few pieces of relief in there somewhere. I never thought of the doctors office as anything like a spa, so if you are treated as such there, well, I think thats damn amazing.
I'll be thinking of you and sending nice warm thoughts your direction while I'm on a 2 day phone hold with Mother Nature,
Rebecca

11 degrees?  I don't know how you do it.  I will never complain again when it's 40 something outside.  It's a beautiful day over here---I hope some sunshine comes your way very soon!!  Thank God for hot coffee!  Julie :)

I hear you on the stiff joints. I don't believe my hands will have any feeling nor warmth till spring rolls around. You my dear are a very busy lady today. Hope all goes well tomorrow, no bruising again, and I believe the wish would be that it goes quickly. (Hugs) Indigo

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!  It was 46 when I took Caleb to school this morning with a forecasted high of 82.  Right now, 72.  Ahhhhhhh, I just love AZ.  I need to look up Aspergers.  David's niece is autistic, but not even close to being as functional as Hammer.  His brother came over one night when Julia was around 2-2 1/2 and after watching her for a while I said "David, I think Julia is autistic."  He said "I know.  I've been watching her too."  I hope the Orencia makes you feel better and with no bruising!
