Oooh!!! Thank you!!!!!

Well, don't I feel like a idiot!!  I am calling off the ferocious comment pooch!  LOL

Truly, thank you all... I should know better, but I was surprised to only have three this am and I do look forward to them so much!  Especially, when I first get on for the day!

So, sorry for that, everyone... and thank you!!!

Pumpkin is having her piano lesson here at the house again, just today.  Her teacher, Mrs. G, has macular degeneration, which was stable but recently progressed that she cannot drive in twilight or night.  So, since September, all the lessons have been at Mrs. G's house.

All the kids love this because Mrs. G has a $23,000 concert grand Steinway in her living room!!  Mrs. G is an amazing lady, who is an accomplished pianist and graduate of Juliard.

After having children, she taught school in our town, and in fact, was my third grade teacher, 33 years ago!  Yikes!  Shhhhh... don't tell anyone I am that old!  LOL

Mrs. G came to us today because Pumpkin insisted that something is 'off' with the piano and it is out of tune.  I didn't hear it.

Guess what?  Pumpkin was right on the money!!!!  Mrs. G was very, VERY proud of her for being able to pick it up so quickly!!!

So, am I!!  Pumpkin has such a gift.  In three short years (the anniversary was this January), she has come a long way.  She is already playing difficult composers, such as Lizst, before most would be able to try.

The difficulty is getting PUMPKIN to realize what a gift her natural ability is and that she could and should go far with it!

Anyhow, signing off again for now...

be well,
Dawn

I don't write often in your journal because I don't write often in mine.  I can tell you that I love reading your journal though.  Not only that I love the graphics and the comments that you leave on my journal are very inspirational.  I only have 2 readers I think to my journal.  So don't feel bad.  I know that you have way more readers than that.  Maybe it was just most of our turns in the barrel today.  Hugs.  Tish.

Some kids are just natural. My son taught himself how to play the piano, guitar, bass and keyboard. He can play songs he just heard. I asked him if he wants lessons when he started asking for musical instruments and he said, "Why pay for something I can learn myself." I still ask him every now and then, he just give me the "Leave me alone, woman!" look.
You are a supportive Mom. I am sure I do not need to tell you what to do. You already know.
Hugs.

Liszt? That's devilish difficult stuff. Well done Pumpkin!

I'm impressed that Pumpkin picked up that the piano was out of tune.  I played for years.  My aunt played the piano by ear.  I could always tell when a key wasn't striking right.  LOL...to the comment pooch.  I think JLand is just very, very slow right now.  HUGS  Chris

Pumpkin is lucky to have a mom who encourages her artistic abilities.  It's pretty hard to really pursue the arts when your parents think it's a waste of time.  I know that for a fact. :(

Wow, your daughter was able to hear that. What a great ear. My  sister and I had lessons for about a year growing up. I hated them, lol but of course I regret not sticking with it. Music is such a escape for me  but my sister had an ear for piano too. I was mechanical but my sister could hear sound where for me, I couldnt tell the difference. ~Raven

So nice to have talent in the family. I always fell in love with singers and my reward was more musical talent in my kids than I ever possessed!  It will be great to nurture your daughter's talent and desire to keep going with her music.  Her teacher sounds wonderful!   I have read your sidebar and admire the mothers that do so much for an autistiac child.  I have read many books on autistic children, just because they re so inspirational.  Some retardation ran in my mother's family so we were always dealing with that.  My little Uncle Bill was slow.  I hope to read more about your child as time goes on.  Gerry http://jouurnals.aol.com/gehi6/daughters-of-the-shadow-men/

Oh I remember being tortured as a child and being forced into piano lessons.  My parents made me take piano for 5 years.  I finally revolted and refused to go to a lesson or practice, even though I got grounded.  Today, I'm glad I took what lessons I did, even though I still stand firm in my decision to quit.  I hope Pumpkin realizes what an opportunity she is being given and not to waste her talent.  De ;)
