Highway to Hell

Why am I on a 'Highway to Hell' you ask?

Because tomorrow, I am going to tackle the hellish disaster that is our playroom!!!!

And now, having proclaimed it publicly, on this here blog, I cannot possibly procrastinate and push it off another day.

You will all be waiting to hear if I was able to fight my way into the room, hack through the jungle of mess, and leave with everything just perfectly trimmed and organized as it should be.  Right?

I may even post pics... nah... just kidding!  My mother would die a death of horrification.  Is that a word?  If not, I like it, and it stays in my dictionary.  LOL

This room is immediately adjacent to our bedroom, and was our kids room, prior to adding the upstairs bedrooms that they have now.

It has a day bed, perfect for snoring Hubby and roaming kids at night, and during the day, it is the place to crash while watching tv, playing video games, or read.  The closet was taken over by Hubby for all his suits, and it is a dressing room for him in the early morning so he doesn't wake me.  It also has the tv mentioned above and two game systems, Playstation 2 and Nintendo 64, hooked up to it.  There are also shelves with a lot of books, crates with toys for when my nephew J comes to visit, and a knock-hockey table.  Oh yeah, and my gigantic treadmill, a karaoke machine and stereo.

And, stuff.  Stuff would be the things Hubby wants to save or a kid (and I do have three) wants to save.  There is no where else to put it, so it ends up there.

I am done with the stuff.  My patience with the state of that room has run out.  I have asked Hubby to better with his end of the 'stuff'.  I have asked the kids to be better with theirs.

Now, it is mommy's turn to deal with the stuff.  There may be some tears tomorrow, but in the end, I think everyone will see that the room will be better for all without some of the 'stuff'!

Bwaaaah ha ha ha!!!!

I also know that a day like this usually ends up with an aching and sore body for me.  So, I am going to try to pace myself.  Wish me luck!

Tune in tomorrow...

be well,
Dawn

ps... Coffee will definitely be involved in the process... lol

The woman in that "Being unstable and bitchy..." picture is scary. She looks kind of like Chucky the killer doll.
Good luck de-stuffing the room. --Cin

I'm wishing you luck, patience, and a new body lol! I remember those days of cleaning my daughters room. And yes, it was hell! She owned every Barbie out there, all the accessories, doll houses, cars etc. So on occasion it would like a bomb went off in Barbie ville. There would be mini pieces of Barbie everywhere. I would go in and arrange the Barbie on her shelves, straighten out her dresser, clean up the mess the closet decides to vomit out at me the minute the door was opened. If I timed it just right I would get this done, an hour before guest came.

Good luck with that playroom....
I feel the pain and I am not even there....
I have the same concern with 1/2 my garage and 1/2 my basement as only 1/2 of those two rooms are anywhere near done.  And I always feel like I am on a horrific mission when I go near my children's rooms... but they are doing a little better.  Hugs,
Lisa : )

Good luck there, Dawn!  Pace yourself---don't try and do it all in a day--take your time!!  Beware of falling items in the closets!!  Hugs - Julie :)

Take it easy baby.  Rome wasn't built in a day and cleaning a room like that wasn't either.  Sounds like you should have four helpers in there too...lol...Sandi
